Practice
Petra Charbon’s law practice specialises in employment law in the broadest sense.
Petra advises, conducts legal proceedings and negotiates in all matters relating to (collective) redundancies, reorganisations and acquisitions, employment contracts (including contracts for directors), social schemes, working conditions (including WNT* issues), equal treatment, flexible employment relationships and codetermination law. Numerous healthcare organisations in particular rely on her expertise, but she is also frequently consulted by (inter)national companies operating in different sectors.
*Standards for Remuneration Act (restricting excessive remuneration and severance payment in the public and semi public sector).
Petra’s practice distinguishes itself by providing practical, solutions-based and efficient legal services.
Petra is mentioned in the 2016/2017 edition of the “Best Lawyers in The Netherlands”
Career
Petra has worked as a lawyer in Groningen (Plas & Bossinade), Alkmaar (Schenkeveld) and Amsterdam (Stibbe, 1994 – 2009). She has been a partner at Bergh, Stoop & Sanders since 2009.
Academic / publications
Petra regularly publishes articles relating to her field of expertise in professional journals and newspapers. She is an editorial staff member of ArbeidsRecht, a journal specialising in employment law. She was a board member (secretary) of the Dutch Employment Lawyers Association (VAAN), she is a member of the Dutch Employment Law Association as well as of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA). Petra is also a deputy judge at the Noord-Holland Subdistrict Court.
Personal / extra-curricular
In her spare time Petra acts as a member of the Supervisory Board of the NBE, the Dutch Woodwind Ensemble, and of the board of Sportclub Friends Only Foundation (a sports club for disabled children). In addition, she is a member of the Dutch Appeals Board / Royal Dutch Skating Association Disputes Committee (KNSB) (Koninklijke Schaatsenrijdersbond).
